4 Pumpkin-Based Dog Treats Perfect For Fall

This may sound extremely basic of me, but I love Fall!

There’s something about the colorful foliage and chilled air that give off a rather homey feeling. I get all excited when I drive around my community and see pumpkins and wreaths displayed on my neighbors’ front porches. And don’t get me started on Fall-flavored foods/drinks (One pumpkin spice latte, please!)

Who’s with me?!

To celebrate the start of Fall (and our canine kids), I put together this roundup of pumpkin-based dog treat recipes. Not only are these treats tail-wagging good, they’re also all gluten-free and super healthy for your pooch.

The Benefits Of Pumpkin

Pumpkin is part of the squash family and known as a superfood for dogs. It’s great for settling a dog’s upset stomach and easing digestive troubles. Pumpkin is often fed to sick dogs as a way to ease constipation and relieve bouts of diarrhea. These digestive benefits are thanks to the high fiber content.

That’s not the only way pumpkin can benefit Fido, though. Since it also contains protein, pumpkin can help keep your dog feeling full for longer. That means pumpkin can aid weight loss in an overweight pooch.

An Important Note

It’s important to mention that when you see pumpkin listed in my recipes, I am not referring to pumpkin pie filling that’s loaded with sugar and spices that are toxic to dogs. Rather, I mean 100% Pure Pumpkin Purée.
