Bone Broth Muffin Dog Treat Recipe

When it comes to homemade dog treats, it doesn’t get much easier than this. They’re made with three simple ingredients and require less than 10 minutes of prep time. Okay, now that we’ve checked the “easy” box, let’s check a few more.
✅ Tail-wagging good. One whiff of these bark-worthy bites and it’ll have you craving a big bowl of soup. That’s because these muffins are infused with the rich flavor of bone broth!
✅ Nutrient-rich. Protein along with a variety of key vitamins and minerals are packed inside these treats. Sure, they’re only treats … and treats should never replace meals. But, when it comes to reward-worthy moments, why not make them nutritious?!

A Look at the Ingredients

Brown Rice Flour – Made 100% of brown rice, this gluten-free flour offers a slightly nutty flavor and serves as a base for these muffin treats. I personally use the Bob’s Red Mill brand.

The Honest Kitchen’s Dehydrated Beef Bone Broth – For a boost of protein and other essential nutrients, just add a little warm water to this dehydrated superfood blend. It’s made of dehydrated beef broth, dehydrated beef, dehydrated pumpkin, dried parsley, and turmeric. Yup, that’s it! No preservatives or red-flag ingredients. Not only is this bone broth blend healthy for our dogs, but it gives these muffin treats a dose of yummy flavor!

Egg – While the egg acts as a binder in this recipe, it also provides additional protein, vitamin D, and other nutrients. Find out more about eggs for dogs HERE.

A Note on Bone Broth

Bone broth refers to a delicious and comforting stock traditionally made by simmering animal bones in water for a long period of time (between 8-24 hours). As the bones simmer, they release powerful vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial healing properties. Remember when you were sick as a kid and your grandma made you chicken soup? Well, she was onto something!

Bone broth is loaded with a gooey substance called gelatin (AKA broken down collagen), making it great for gut and digestive health. Plus, it benefits joint health, immunity, and skin/coat.

While I’m a huge fan of The Honest Kitchen’s Dehydrated Beef Bone Broth to use as a healthy and tasty supplement (especially as a way to supercharge homemade treats), I highly recommend whipping up a batch of fresh bone broth for your pooch from time-to-time.
