3-Ingredient Dog Treats Your Pup Will Heart

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, why not treat your four-legged love to a special treat? Since the way to every dog’s heart is through their stomach, I’ve got a festive recipe for you. The star of these bright red, 3-ingredient doggy snacks is chicken. And the red? Nope, it’s not food coloring! We’re using a nutritious beet to achieve that gorgeous hue.

These flourless, grain-free bites are healthy for our pups, totally Instagram-worthy, and they’re a cinch to make. You just have to boil, blend, and bake!

Watch the recipe video above for a step-by-step guide to making these tasty treats. As you scroll, the video should stick to the bottom right side of your screen. You can also view the video on YouTube HERE!

A Look at the Ingredients

Chicken Breast – Chicken is an affordable and convenient protein that most dogs love!

Beet – Yes, red beets are healthy for dogs in moderation. They offer vitamin C, fiber, folate, manganese, potassium, and the list goes on. The many nutrients inside help support a strong immune system, aid digestive health, and fight inflammation.

Egg – While the egg acts as a binder in this recipe, it also provides quality protein, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals! Find out more about eggs for dogs in my Food Facts article HERE.

Shape It!

You can easily shape these healthy treats into anything your heart desires! For Valentine’s Day, I wanted to create heart-shaped treats. So, I used THIS oven-safe silicone mold.

No mold? No problem! You can turn these into muffins by greasing a mini muffin tin with either coconut oil or olive oil and then baking. Or, shape them into bite-size balls to create mini doggy meatballs.

The Recipe

3-Ingredient Dog Treats Your Pup Will Heart

Ingredients

  • 8 oz chicken breast, all visible fat trimmed off
  • 1/2 beet, fresh
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350ºF.
  • In a saucepan, add chicken and beet. Fill with enough water to cover ingredients and cook on a medium/high heat. Let this go until the chicken is fully cooked and the beet is soft, about 15 minutes.
  • Transfer cooked chicken and beet to a food processor or blender. Add egg and blend. You will need to lift the top and use a spoon or baking spatula to scrape down the sides a few times. Blend until ingredients are smooth.
  • Spoon bright-colored mixture into a heart-shaped, oven-safe silicone mold (or another mold of your choice). If using silicone, place onto a baking sheet before transferring to the oven for support.
  • Bake at 350ºF for 20 minutes.
  • Once fully cooked, let treats cool in the mold for about 10 minutes, or until the mold is cool enough to touch. Then, remove treats from mold and let them finish cooling on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Store treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 days. Or in the freezer for 2-3 months.
