It’s been a while since I’ve shared a gelatin-based dog treat. So, I’m back with a new one for you and your pups! Using The Honest Kitchen’s Instant Beef Bone Broth as a healthy and flavorful base, these treats take less than 5 minutes to throw together before popping them in the fridge to set. And once they’re ready? Well, you’re left with a wiggly, jiggly texture that resembles Jello … making these perfect for ALL dogs, including senior canines with dental issues.
The Ingredients
The Honest Kitchen’s Instant Beef Bone Broth – This dehydrated blend offers a dose of protein and other essential nutrients. The ingredients are *chef’s kiss*. It’s made of dehydrated beef broth, dehydrated beef, dehydrated pumpkin, dried parsley, and turmeric. Yup, that’s it! No preservatives or red-flag ingredients. Not only is this bone broth blend healthy for our dogs, but it gives these gummy treats a dose of yummy flavor!
Gelatin – High in amino acids (the building blocks of protein), gelatin is a form of hydrolyzed collagen (AKA broken-down collagen) that’s taken from animal parts. I’m not talking about a plain chicken breast, though. Instead, gelatin is from areas like an animal’s skin, bone marrow, tissues, and tendons. It’s virtually colorless and tasteless.
When shopping for gelatin, you may notice it comes in a powder form. Once you mix it with some warm liquid, though, it becomes a jiggly jelly texture. Just think of Jell-O!
It’s important to note that not all gelatin powder is created equal. If you’re looking for convenience, Knox is a popular brand that you can probably find at your local grocery store. But, if you’re looking to reap the biggest health reward, look into brands like Great Lakes.

Bone Broth Gelatin Dog Treats Recipe

Method
- In a saucepan over high heat, bring 1/2 cup of water to a light boil.
- Transfer water to a mixing bowl. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of plain, unflavored gelatin powder, depending on how firm you want your dog treats. Mix until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.
- Add 1 tablespoon of The Honest Kitchen's Beef Bone Broth powder. Mix until thoroughly combined.
- Place a silicone mold onto a baking sheet for support. Then, spoon your treat mixture into the mold.
- Refrigerate until set, about 1-2 hours.
Notes
- When making thinner bone-shaped treats, I prefer 2 tablespoons of gelatin powder. When making thicker paw-shaped treats, I like 1 tablespoon. Play around for the texture that best suits your pooch.
- Store in the refrigerator.
