Carrot Pupcakes: Easy Springtime Dog Treats

Spring is in the air! What better way to celebrate the season than by treating your furry friend to something special? Introducing Carrot Pupcakes!

I created this fun and festive recipe for the animal hospital Bond Vet. Founded in New York in 2019, this primary and urgent care hospital has rapidly expanded to nine cities across the East Coast. And their practice continues to grow! Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead several dog treat-making workshops for their clients. Plus, I’m regularly asked to create and share healthy treat recipes for them.

Carrot Pupcakes

With just four basic ingredients and minimal effort required, these pupcakes are not only a breeze to whip up, but they’re also packed with wholesome goodness your dog will love. Watch the step-by-step tutorial:

The Ingredients

  • Oat Flour – Unlike wheat flour, oat flour is gluten-free, making it easier to digest for pups with sensitivities or allergies. Additionally, they’re a great source of fiber and contain nutrients such as iron, manganese, and B vitamins. My favorite flour brand is Bob’s Red Mill!
  • Carrots – Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, which plays a crucial role in maintaining good vision and a strong immune system in dogs. Find out more about the benefits of carrots for dogs in our Food Facts Feature HERE!
  • Applesauce – Plain, unsweetened applesauce adds moisture and natural sweetness to our treats. Rich in fiber, applesauce aids in digestion, keeping your dog’s tummy happy. When searching for the perfect bottle of applesauce to feed your dog, check the ingredient label. You want to opt for a bottle that only lists Apples (no other added flavors, sugars, or sugar substitutes).
  • Eggs – Eggs are a nutritional powerhouse for dogs, providing a rich source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. The yolks are loaded with essential fatty acids, vitamins like A and D, and choline, promoting healthy skin, coat, and brain function. Meanwhile, the egg whites contribute additional protein, aiding in muscle development and repair. Find out more about the benefits of eggs for dogs in our Food Facts Feature HERE!
