Salmon Jello Dog Treat Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can skinless, boneless salmon (in water)
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 packet Knox unflavored gelatin powder

Method

  1. Drain canned salmon and scrape the meat into a blender, along with the fresh blueberries. Puree until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pour 1/4 cup water into a small pot and turn burner onto medium-high heat. Let this go until it starts to bubble. Since there isn't much water here, it will only take about a minute.
  3. Reduce flame to low and pour salmon/blueberry mixture into the pot. Stir consistently for 1-2 minutes. The goal here is to heat up all of the ingredients.
  4. Pour mixture into a mixing bowl. Add gelatin powder and stir well for 1-2 minutes. The gelatin powder needs to fully dissolve and be evenly spread in order for your treats to take on that desired jello-y texture.
  5. Place silicone molds on top of a baking sheet for support. Then, spoon mixture into silicone molds.
  6. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or until fully set.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
  • If you're using a different gelatin brand (like Great Lakes), you'll need roughly 1 tablespoon.
