Valentine's Day Dog Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup brown rice flour
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup all-natural applesauce
  • 1 large egg
  • Strawberries

Method
 

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together brown rice and oat flours.
  3. Make a well in the center of your dry ingredients. Add applesauce and egg.
  4. Stir together with a spoon until you're left with a bunch of crumbly bits. Then, knead with your hands until you form a doughball.
  5. Sandwich doughball between two pieces of parchment paper and roll flat (about 1/4" thick) with a rolling pin.
  6. Stamp treats with a cookie cutter and place onto baking sheet.
  7. Thinly slice strawberries so they resemble a heart (refer to video attached to this article). Gently press one slice into the middle of each treat.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

  • Measure flour using the spoon and level method. Don’t scoop or you’ll have too much flour.
  • Store these treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for 3 months. 
    • To extend the refrigerated shelf life of these treats, ditch the strawberries!
