Pumpkin Latte Recipe: A Dog-Approved Spin on the Classic PSL

As we creep closer to Fall, I’m excited to say Pumpkin Spice Latte season is among us! Yes, I am one of those people… The kind who basks in autumn basicness and loves pumpkin everything. #SorryNotSorry While our canine companions can’t share licks of our PSLs, we can easily whip up a doggy version for them. Not only is this Pumpkin Latte downright adorable, but it also touts digestion-aiding nutrients (such as probiotics and fiber).

This Dog-Approved Pumpkin Latte is Only 2 Ingredients!

This special doggy drink features goat’s milk and 100% pure pumpkin puree. (Quantities in the printable recipe card below)

Goat’s Milk: Goat’s milk is rich in both prebiotics and probiotics, meaning it promotes diverse and healthy gut flora (good gut health is key for overall health and wellbeing – in canines and humans)! Plus, goat’s milk is a wonderful source of digestive enzymes. If you incorporate raw goat’s milk into your dog’s regular diet then you can simply use the brand you always do. Some popular ones include Bones & Co. and Primal. For convenience, I personally use The Honest Kitchen Instant Goat’s Milk. It comes in powder form and you simply mix it with some warm water. This dehydrated goat’s milk doesn’t contain any red-flag fillers or preservatives.

Pumpkin: Pumpkin puree is considered a superfood for our canine cuties. It’s loaded with fiber, making it great for digestion and weight management. Plus, pumpkin also contains potassium and a moderate amount of protein. Find out more about pumpkin for dogs in our Food Facts article HERE.*Note: When shopping for the best pumpkin to serve your dog, buy a can that says 100% Pure Pumpkin Puree. NOT pumpkin pie filling, which contains sugar and spices that aren’t good for dogs.

Other Notes About This Recipe

  • I topped my Pumpkin Latte with a little whipped cream. If you plan to do the same, please take a moment to check the ingredient label and ensure it does not contain xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar substitute that’s toxic to dogs. On the topic of whipped cream: I only add it on special occasions and do not recommend making it a regular in your dog’s diet.
  • To make my doggy drink look extra festive, I also added a tiny sprinkling of cinnamon. Cinnamon is considered safe for dogs, however, not all popular Fall spices get the green light for our furkids. Do NOT include a pumpkin pie spice in this recipe, as it’s not good for dogs.
  • While I’m calling this recipe a “latte” (because it’s meant to be a cute spinoff on the popular Pumpkin Spice Latte), it does not contain any coffee or caffeine. Be sure not to add any, as it’s harmful to dogs.
