If you’re a regular here then you know I love making homemade dog treats. There’s something incredibly satisfying about crafting wholesome goodies for our furry family members, knowing exactly what goes into each bite. Not only does it allow you to tailor ingredients to your dog’s specific dietary needs, but you can also introduce a wider variety of treats. I mean … have you ever seen fresh, savory gummy dog treats in your local pet store?! I certainly haven’t!
However, let’s face it โ life can be hectic, and finding the time to whip up gourmet dog treats isn’t always feasible. In those moments when the clock seems to be working against us, these In-a-Pinch Gummy Dog Treats swoop in as the ultimate solution. They require only 5 minutes of prep time, are simple to make, and offer a nutritional punch with each bite!
Cheat Your Way to a Healthy Gummy Dog Treat
I’m a huge fan of homemade gummy dog treats because they’re perfect for dogs of all ages, including seniors with dental issues who require a softer snack. The star ingredient (which is plain, unflavored beef gelatin powder), offers many health benefits. It’s great for gut health, joints, and skin/coat.
While I usually take the time to boil up fresh chicken, turkey, or beef to use as the base, there is a quicker way. For those days when you only have 5 extra minutes, you can cheat your way to tail-wagging good dog treats with The Honest Kitchen’s Pour Overs. (No, they aren’t paying me for this placement … I genuinely keep a stock of these in my pantry and use them to create these In-a-Pinch Dog Treats).

The Honest Kitchen’s Pour Overs come in a variety of flavor options, each featuring a short and wholesome ingredient list.
The Honest Kitchen’s Pour Overs are meant to be a nutritional food topper, I just like using them to create quick and easy treats!
The Recipe
To make these In-a-Pinch DIY Dog Treats, you will simply add 1 (5.5 oz) box of The Honest Kitchen’s Pour Overs and 1/4 cup of water to a saucepan. Once it comes to a light boil, stir in 2 tablespoons of unflavored beef gelatin powder (I recommend the Great Lakes brand). Pour the mixture into a silicone mold and pop it in the refrigerator to set. After just 5 minutes of prep, and 1-2 hours in the fridge, your dog will be one happy canine!

Method
- To a saucepan, add box of Pour Overs and water.
- Over a medium heat, bring to a light boil. This should only take 1-2 minutes.
- Pour heated mixture into a mixing bowl. Stir in gelatin powder until fully dissolved and well incorporated. Set aside.
- Place silicone molds of choice onto a cookie sheet for support and fill folds with the gelatin-laden mixture.
- Set in fridge, about 1-2 hours.
- Once set, transfer treats to an airtight container. Store in fridge for up to 4 days.
